Configure Betterbird to Receive Internal Emails on Another Computer

To access your local email on another computer connected to the same LAN network using Betterbird, follow these steps:

1. Install Betterbird on the second computer:

   Open a terminal and run the following command to install Betterbird:

   sudo apt-get install betterbird
   

2. Configure Betterbird:

   After installation, launch Betterbird and click on the "Account" button. Then, click on "Add Account" and select "Local IMAP/POP3".

3. Enter account details:

   Enter your email address, password, and server details. For the server, use the IP address of the first computer where Betterbird is installed.

   • If you're using IMAP, set the port to 143.
   • If you're using POP3, set the port to 110.

4. Enable SSL/TLS:

   Check the "Use SSL/TLS" option to secure your connection.

5. Advanced settings:

   If you're using IMAP, you may need to change the "Maximum connection age" to a higher value, as Betterbird may disconnect after a short period of inactivity.

6. Test the connection:

   Click on "Test Account" to verify that the settings are correct. If the test is successful, click on "Next" and complete the configuration.

7. Sync contacts and calendar:

   To sync contacts and calendar, click on the account name, then click on the "Contacts" and "Calendar" tabs. Follow the prompts to set up syncing with your email service.
