Google Drive: Authorizing Embedded Videos with Two Google Accounts

Introduction

This article provides a step-by-step guide on how to authorize embedded videos using two different Google accounts in Google Workspace (formerly known as G Suite), specifically within a Chrome browser window. Google Workspace includes various productivity and collaboration tools such as Google Sheets, Google Drive, and Google Docs.

Prerequisites

Before proceeding with the steps, ensure that:

• You have two Google accounts: one for personal use (User0) and another for work (User1).
• Both accounts are logged in separate Chrome windows.

Authorization Flow

When embedding videos from Google Drive into a website or document, Google requires authorization to access the files. The authorization process can be a bit tricky when using multiple Google accounts.

Step 1: Open Google Drive

In one of the Chrome windows, navigate to Google Drive using the personal account (User0).

Step 2: Access the Video File

Locate the video file you wish to embed and right-click on it. Select "Get link" to obtain the direct link to the file.

Step 3: Copy the Share Link

A new tab will open with the share options. Click on the "Get link" button and copy the generated link.

Step 4: Authorize the Share

Go back to the original tab with the Google Drive interface. You will be prompted to authorize the share. Click on "Review permissions" and then "Allow".

Step 5: Share the Video

Return to the tab with the copied link and replace the "view" part of the link with "embed". The new link should look like this: https://drive.google.com/file/d/[file-id]/embed.

Repeating the Process with the Work Account

Now, repeat the process using the work account (User1) in the other Chrome window:

1. Navigate to Google Drive using the work account.
2. Access the video file and get the direct link.
3. Copy the share link and authorize the share using the work account.
4. Replace the "view" part of the link with "embed" and obtain the embedded link for the work account.
