Hydraloop: The Dutch Startup Recycling Greywater

Hydraloop, a Dutch startup, has developed a system that allows using water from showers to flush toilets, thereby reducing the wastage of potable water. Greywater, which comes from showers, bathtubs, and sinks, contains low levels of fecal content and can be treated and reused in toilets and washing machines. The company's machines have a six-stage treatment process, including sedimentation, ultraviolet disinfection, and biological treatment. Hydraloop has raised 16 million euros and installed 43 systems so far. While the machines cost around 3,200 euros, they offer energy savings and environmental benefits. The company's competitors include FGWRS in Monaco and Graytec in Sweden. Hydraloop's machines also have internet connectivity for remote monitoring and supervision.
