Germany Retires Iconic Airbus A340-300 From Government Fleet

Germany's Airbus A340-300, known as 'Merkel One' and used by Chancellor Angela Merkel for nearly a decade, is being retired. The aircraft, which first flew in 1999, was acquired by the German government in 2000 and converted into the official government plane. However, due to technical issues and maintenance problems, the plane has been retired from service. Germany's government fleet will now be replaced with three Airbus A350-900 planes, which offer greater fuel efficiency, advanced technology, and a more spacious interior.
