Configure OpenWRT as Access Point/Switch
Step 1: Log in to the OpenWRT router's LuCI web interface
Open a web browser and enter the router's IP address in the address bar.
Step 2: Navigate to the Network > Wireless section
Create a new access point by clicking the "Create AP" button.
Step 3: Configure the access point
- SSID: Enter the desired name for the WiFi network.
- Wireless Mode: Select "Access Point".
- Security: Select the desired security mode (e.g., WPA2-Personal).
- Pre-Shared Key: Enter the password for the WiFi network.
- Click the "Save & Apply" button to save the settings.
Step 4: Navigate to the Network > Switch section
Ensure the switch is enabled and configured according to your needs.
Click the "Save & Apply" button to save the settings.
Step 5: Navigate to the Network > Interfaces section
Create a new network interface by clicking the "Add New Interface" button.
Step 6: Configure the DHCP server
- Protocol: Select "DHCP Server".
- Interface: Select the Ethernet port you want to use for the DHCP server.
- IP Address: Enter the IP address range for the DHCP server (e.g., 192.168.1.100-192.168.1.200).
- Click the "Save & Apply" button to save the settings.
Step 7: Ensure the WAN interface is configured
Ensure the router's WAN interface is configured to obtain an IP address automatically (DHCP) or manually, depending on your ISP's requirements.
Step 8: Save and reboot the router
Click the "System" tab, then click "Save & Restart" to save the settings and reboot the router.
