Windows 11 provides a feature where users can set their desktop background with an image slideshow. Following the steps below, you can select a folder of images to use in your slideshow, and learn how to make this selection permanent.
Enabling the Background Slideshow
To start displaying a slideshow of images on your desktop background, follow these steps:
- Press
Win + Ito open the Settings app. - From the left sidebar, choose Personalization.
- Click on Personalize your background.
- Under Background, select Slideshow.
Selecting a Folder for the Slideshow
After enabling the slideshow, you'll need to pick a folder where your images are stored:
- Under Slideshow, click the Browse button.
- Find the folder with your desired images and click Choose this folder.
Making the Selection Permanent
By default, the slideshow folder will be set to %USERPROFILE%\Pictures\Slideshow. However, if you would like to make a different folder selection permanent, complete these steps:
- Launch File Explorer and navigate to your desired folder.
- Right-click the folder and open its Properties menu.
- Switch to the Customize tab.
- Under Choose a folder picture, click the Change picture button.
- Find and select the folder you want and click OK.
- Confirm the change by clicking Yes when asked if you would like to set this folder's picture as the folder background.
- Now, navigate back to your desktop or press
Win + Iand open Settings. - Navigate to the Personalization section and confirm that the folder you have chosen is now set as your slideshow folder.
Additional Tweaks
You can further customize background slideshow settings:
- Go to Settings and find the Personalization section.
- Click on Personalize your background.
- Under Slideshow, click on Advanced slideshow settings.
- Adjust parameters according to your needs.
To set a folder as your Windows 11 background slideshow permanently, follow the steps to enable the slideshow, pick a folder, and make the choice permanent.
