Introduction
Windows 11, with its German locale, may display an invalid time format in some applications due to a discrepancy between the desired short time format and the system settings. In this article, we will guide you through the process of fixing this issue by adjusting the regional settings.
Step 1: Check the Current Short Time Format
Before making any changes, let's verify the current short time format. Press the Windows key + I to open the Settings app, then navigate to "Time & Language" and click on "Date & Time" on the left sidebar. Under the "Additional date, time, & regional settings" section, click on "Region & language". In the "Formats" tab, check the value under "Short time" in the "Additional settings for German (Germany)" section.
Step 2: Change the Short Time Format
If the short time format is not set to "HH:mm Uhr", follow these steps to change it:
- Go back to the "Region & language" tab in the "Date & Time" settings.
- Click on "Change date, time, and additional settings".
- Under "Region", click on the "Add a language" link and add "German (Germany)" if it's not already present.
- Click on "Set as default" next to "German (Germany)" in the list of installed languages.
- Go back to the "Region & language" tab and click on "Add a format".
- Select "Customize format" and set the "Short time" format to "HH:mm Uhr".
- Click "Save" to apply the changes.
Step 3: Verify the Change
Open an application where you previously encountered the invalid time format issue. Check if the time is now displayed correctly in the desired short format.
