Excel 2013: Two Page View Issue - Horizontal Scrolling Disabled

Microsoft Excel is a powerful spreadsheet program that allows users to organize, analyze, and visualize data. One of the features of Excel is the ability to view two pages (or more) side by side. However, some users have reported an issue with horizontal scrolling being disabled in the second page view.

Reproducing the Issue

To reproduce the issue, follow these steps:

1. Open Microsoft Excel 2013.
2. Open a workbook with multiple sheets.
3. Click on the "View" tab in the ribbon.
4. Click on "New Window" in the "Window" group to open a new window with the same workbook.
5. In the second window, go to the sheet that you want to view side by side with the first sheet.
6. Arrange the windows side by side by clicking and dragging the title bar of one of the windows to the left or right of the other window.
7. Try to scroll horizontally on the second page. You will find that horizontal scrolling is disabled.

Copying and Pasting Cells

A workaround for this issue is to copy the contents of the cells from the first page and paste them into the second page. However, when you paste the cells into the second page, the formatting may not be preserved. To work around this, you can use the following steps:

1. Copy the cells from the first page.
2. Go to the second page and select the range of cells where you want to paste the contents.
3. Right-click and select "Paste Special" from the context menu.
4. Select "Formats" from the "Paste Special" dialog box.
5. Click "OK" to paste the formats.
6. Right-click again and select "Paste Special" from the context menu.
7. Select "Values" from the "Paste Special" dialog box.
8. Click "OK" to paste the cell values.

Splitting Pane View

Another workaround for the issue is to use the "Split" pane view. This allows you to view different parts of the same sheet side by side. To use the "Split" pane view, follow these steps:

1. Go to the sheet that you want to view in the "Split" pane view.
2. Click and drag the split bar (located between the column letters and row numbers) to split the sheet into multiple panes.
3. Scroll horizontally in each pane to view different parts of the sheet side by side.

Additional Options

If the above workarounds do not solve the issue, you can try the following options:

1. Update Excel to the latest version.
2. Try opening the workbook on a different computer.
3. Convert the workbook to a newer file format (e.g., from .xls to .xlsx).
4. Reinstall Excel.
