Recovering Forgotten Microsoft Edge Activity Tab "G" Key Combination
Do you remember the days when you could quickly access the Activity Tab in Microsoft Edge using a simple key combination involving the letter "G"? It has been a while since that feature was available, but for those who used it frequently, it may still be a sorely missed shortcut.
The Forgotten Key Combination
The key combination in question was G + Alt. Pressing these keys together would open the Activity Tab, which displayed a user's browsing history, downloads, and favorite websites. However, with the release of Microsoft Edge Insider Preview 84.0.494.0, this feature was removed.
Why Was It Removed?
Microsoft did not provide a clear reason for removing the "G" key combination for the Activity Tab. It is possible that it was a design decision made to simplify the browser's interface or to make way for new features. Whatever the reason, it left many users wondering how to quickly access their browsing history and downloads.
Alternative Ways to Access the Activity Tab
While the alternative ways to access the Activity Tab may not be as quick as the "G" key combination, they are still relatively straightforward. Here are some options:
- Click on the three dots in the top right corner of the Microsoft Edge browser window to open the menu. From there, select "History" to view your browsing history, or "Downloads" to view your downloaded files.
- Use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl + H to open the History tab directly. Alternatively, use Ctrl + J to open the Downloads tab.
- Add the History or Downloads page as a favorite or bookmark in Microsoft Edge. This way, you can quickly access these pages with just a few clicks.
Although the "G" key combination for the Activity Tab in Microsoft Edge is no longer available, there are still alternative ways to access your browsing history and downloads. While it may take a bit more effort than before, these methods are still relatively straightforward and should not cause too much inconvenience.
