Dual Booting Windows 11 on Your Secondary PC with a Pre-existing Installation on Your Primary PC's M.2 Drive

If you've recently moved your M.2 drive from your primary PC, which already has a Windows 11 installation, to your secondary PC, and would like to keep both installations, this article is for you. We will cover the key concepts and steps required to successfully dual boot Windows 11 on your secondary PC.

Preparing Your Secondary PC

Before you begin, ensure that your secondary PC meets the minimum system requirements for Windows 11. You will need a compatible processor, sufficient RAM, and enough storage space to install and run the operating system. Once you have confirmed that your PC meets the requirements, follow these steps:

Create a backup of any important data on your secondary PC's storage drives.
Shrink the existing partition on your M.2 drive to make room for the new Windows 11 installation. You can do this using the Disk Management tool built into Windows or a third-party partition manager.

Installing Windows 11

Now that your secondary PC is prepared, you can begin installing Windows 11. Follow these steps:

Create a bootable USB drive with the Windows 11 installation media. You can use the Media Creation Tool provided by Microsoft to create the bootable drive.

Select the M.2 drive as the boot device and press Enter.
Select the Windows 11 installation you want to boot into and press Enter.
