Recording a multimedia podcast on your PC can be a great way to share your thoughts and ideas with the world. However, setting up your audio can sometimes be a bit tricky. In this article, we will guide you through the process of having internal audio, using an external microphone, and being able to listen to internal audio during your podcast recording.
Step 1: Setting up Internal Audio
The first step is to make sure that your PC is set up to record internal audio. Follow these steps:
- Open the sound settings on your PC. You can do this by right-clicking on the speaker icon in the system tray and selecting "Sounds".
- In the "Playback" tab, select the device that represents your internal audio. This is usually named something like "Speakers" or "Headphones".
- Click on the "Set Default" button to set the selected device as the default playback device.
- In the "Recording" tab, select the device that represents your internal audio. This is usually named something like "Stereo Mix" or "What U Hear".
- Click on the "Set Default" button to set the selected device as the default recording device.
Step 2: Using an External Microphone
If you want to use an external microphone for better audio quality, here's how to set it up:
- Connect your external microphone to the appropriate port on your PC. This is usually the pink port labeled "Mic" or "Microphone".
- Open the sound settings on your PC and go to the "Recording" tab.
- Select the device that represents your external microphone. This will usually have the name of the microphone manufacturer.
- Click on the "Set Default" button to set the selected device as the default recording device.
Step 3: Listening to Internal Audio During Recording
By default, when you start recording with an external microphone, you won't be able to hear the internal audio. However, there is a workaround to listen to the internal audio while recording:
- Download and install a virtual audio cable software. There are several options available online, such as VB-Audio Virtual Cable or Voicemeeter Banana.
- After installing the virtual audio cable software, open the sound settings on your PC and go to the "Recording" tab.
- Select the virtual audio cable as the default recording device.
- Open the software you use for podcast recording and configure it to use the virtual audio cable as the input device.
- Start recording your podcast as usual. You will now be able to hear the internal audio through your headphones or speakers.
With these steps, you should now be able to have internal audio, use an external microphone, and listen to internal audio during your multimedia podcast recording on your PC. Happy podcasting!
