Windows Laptop Account Management
The user owns a Windows laptop and prefers to use a local account. They are not fond of Microsoft's tendency to intrude everywhere. They want to set up their account without a password and avoid typing it every time they start their laptop.
Account Setup
To set up the account without a password, follow these steps:
- Press
Windows key + Ito open Settings. - Click on
Accounts. - Select
Family & other userson the left side. - Click on
Add someone else to this PC. - Select
I don't have this person's sign-in information. - Choose
Add a user without a Microsoft account. - Type the desired username and click on
Next. - Ignore the password prompt as we don't need to set a password for this account.
Automatic Login
To automatically log in to the laptop, follow these steps:
- Press
Windows key + Rto open the Run dialog box. - Type
control userpasswords2and pressEnter. - Uncheck
Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer. - Click on
Applyand thenOK.
