Headphones connected to Chromebook - sound quality issues
I've had a pair of headphones for a couple of months without any problems. Recently, I connected them to my Chromebook, and the sound quality became awful, like low-quality video filmed on an old iPhone.
Symptoms
The sound quality is low, with a noticeable hiss and distortion, especially at higher volumes. The bass response is also weak, and the overall sound is muffled.
Possible Causes
There could be several reasons for the poor sound quality:
- Faulty headphones: It's possible that the headphones themselves are damaged or defective.
- Driver issues: The audio driver for the headphones may be outdated or corrupted, causing the poor sound quality.
- Chromebook settings: The audio settings on the Chromebook may be set incorrectly, causing the poor sound quality.
Solutions
Here are some possible solutions to try:
- Check the headphones: Try the headphones with a different device to see if the problem persists. If the headphones work fine on another device, they may be faulty.
- Update audio driver: Go to the Chromebook's settings, click on "Advanced," then "Troubleshoot," and select "Run audio troubleshooter." If the troubleshooter doesn't fix the problem, try updating the audio driver manually.
- Adjust audio settings: Go to the Chromebook's settings, click on "Sound," and adjust the equalizer settings to improve the sound quality.
