Introduction

In Windows 11, you can configure various settings for different user accounts, including timeouts and auto-lock options. Configuring Timeouts for Simple Users

Simple Users are users with limited access and privileges. By default, their sessions will time out and lock after a certain period. To configure timeouts for Simple Users:

1. Press Win + I to open Settings.
2. Click on Accounts.
3. Click on Sign-in options on the left sidebar.
4. Under Privacy, click on For how long should we stay signed in and choose the desired time.

Note: Simple Users cannot modify these settings without Admin privileges.

Configuring Timeouts for Advanced Users

Advanced Users have more privileges and access than Simple Users. To configure timeouts for Advanced Users:

1. Press Win + X and choose Command Prompt (Admin) or Windows PowerShell (Admin) (depending on your preference).
2. Enter the following command:
   reg add "HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System" /v MinIdleTime /t REG_DWORD /d <value in seconds> /f

   Replace <value in seconds> with the desired timeout value.

Configuring Timeouts for Admin Users

Admin Users have the most privileges and access. To configure timeouts for Admin Users, follow the same steps mentioned in the 'Advanced Users' section.
