Introduction
Recently, I bought a Lenovo Thinkpad L512 laptop from eBay with the intention of fixing some issues. One of the problems I encountered was the need to swap out the original 22GB RAM sticks with newer 28GB ones from Timetech. Preparation
Before you begin, ensure that you have the following:
- New 28GB RAM sticks from a reliable vendor like Timetech
- A Phillips head screwdriver
- A static-free workspace
Swapping RAM Sticks
Follow these steps to swap the RAM sticks:

Step 1: Power Off and Unplug
Power off the laptop and unplug it from the power source.

Step 2: Remove the Back Cover
Use a Phillips head screwdriver to remove the 11 screws securing the back cover. Lift the cover and set it aside.

Step 3: Locate the RAM Slots
Identify the two RAM slots, usually located near the battery.

Step 4: Remove the Old RAM Sticks
Gently lift the clips on either side of the RAM stick and remove it from its slot. Repeat the process for the second RAM stick.

Step 5: Install the New RAM Sticks
Align the notch on the new RAM stick with the notch in the slot and gently press down until it clicks into place. Repeat the process for the second new RAM stick.

Step 6: Reassemble the Laptop
Replace the back cover, securing it with the screws you removed earlier. Power on the laptop to ensure the new RAM sticks are recognized.
