Troubleshooting Ubiquiti Cloud Gateway Max: Connected Devices, No Internet
Ubiquiti Cloud Gateway Max (UCG-Max) is a high-performance network device that enables fast and reliable internet connectivity. However, sometimes you may encounter issues where your devices are connected to the UCG-Max, but there is no internet access. This article will help you diagnose and resolve common issues related to this scenario, specifically for a UCG-Max configured with PPPoE, username, password, and VLAN ID settings provided by your ISP.
Check Power and Network Cables
Before proceeding with advanced troubleshooting, verify that all power and network cables are properly connected. A loose network cable can result in a device being connected to the UCG-Max but without internet access.
Verify WAN and LAN Configuration
Ensure that the Wide Area Network (WAN) and Local Area Network (LAN) settings are configured correctly:
- Login to your UCG-Max web interface.
- Navigate to
Network > Interfaces. - Check that the WAN interface has the correct settings provided by your ISP.
- Ensure the LAN settings are correct for your network, including IP address and subnet mask.
Check PPPoE Settings
Verify your Point-to-Point Protocol over Ethernet (PPPoE) settings:
- Navigate to
Network > Interfaces. - Select the WAN interface.
- Check that the PPPoE settings, including username, password, and VLAN ID, match those provided by your ISP.
Check Device Status
Verify the status of the UCG-Max and devices:
- Navigate to
System > System Status. - Check that the status of the UCG-Max is Connected.
- Verify the status of the devices: they should either be Connected or Registered.
Reset UCG-Max
If the issue persists, consider resetting the UCG-Max to its factory default settings:
- Navigate to
System > System Commands. - Locate the
Factory Defaultssection. - Select the
Factory Resetoption and clickConfirm.
After resetting, reconfigure your UCG-Max with the correct WAN, LAN, and PPPoE settings.
Update Firmware
Ensure your UCG-Max has the latest firmware:
- Navigate to
System > Maintenance. - Check the
Firmware Updatesection for available updates.
If an update is available, follow the instructions provided by Ubiquiti to update the firmware.
- Verify all cables are properly connected.
- Check WAN and LAN configuration.
- Verify PPPoE settings.
- Reset the UCG-Max if necessary.
- Update firmware to the latest version.
