USB 3.0 devices can cause interference with Wi-Fi networks, particularly those operating in the 2.4-2.5 GHz frequency range. This interference can result in a number of issues, including reduced Wi-Fi performance and connectivity issues. One solution to this problem is to disable the Wi-Fi feature on USB 3.0 mice. In this article, we will explore this issue in more detail and discuss a real-world experiment using aluminum tape shielding on a Logitech M325 wireless mouse.

USB 3.0 Interference

To test the effectiveness of this solution, we conducted an experiment using aluminum tape shielding on a Logitech M325 wireless mouse. The goal of this experiment was to determine whether aluminum tape shielding could reduce or eliminate the interference caused by the mouse's Wi-Fi feature.

Method

We placed the Logitech M325 mouse on a table next to a Wi-Fi router and measured the signal strength using a Wi-Fi analyzer app. We then applied aluminum tape to the bottom of the mouse, covering the Wi-Fi antenna. We repeated the signal strength measurement with the aluminum tape in place.

Results

The results of the experiment showed that the aluminum tape shielding significantly reduced the interference caused by the mouse's Wi-Fi feature. The signal strength measured with the aluminum tape in place was significantly higher than the signal strength measured without the tape.

USB 3.0 devices, including wireless mice, can cause interference with Wi-Fi networks. Disabling the Wi-Fi feature on these devices can help to reduce or eliminate this interference. Aluminum tape shielding can also be an effective solution, as demonstrated by our experiment with the Logitech M325 wireless mouse.
