Improving Google Meet Invites in Thunderbird Email Client
If you're using Thunderbird as your main email client, you might have noticed that Google Meet invites don't always look great. The default settings can use some improvement, but luckily, there's a way to make them look more like Gmail invites.
The Problem with Google Meet Invites in Thunderbird
By default, Google Meet invites in Thunderbird can appear cluttered and unorganized. The reason for this is that Thunderbird doesn't automatically recognize Google Meet invites and treat them differently from other emails. This can result in a less-than-ideal viewing experience for the recipient.
Using a Plugin to Improve Google Meet Invites
One solution to this problem is to use a plugin that can recognize Google Meet invites and display them in a more organized way. One such plugin is Google Calendar Provider.
Installing the Plugin
To install the plugin, follow these steps:
- Open Thunderbird.
- Go to the
Add-ons Managerby clicking on the hamburger menu in the top-right corner and selectingAdd-ons. - Search for
Google Calendar Providerin the search bar. - Click on the
Add to Thunderbirdbutton next to the plugin. - Restart Thunderbird when prompted.
Using the Plugin
Once the plugin is installed, Google Meet invites should be displayed in a more organized way. Here's how to use the plugin:
- Open a Google Meet invite in Thunderbird.
- Click on the
AcceptorDeclinebutton in the plugin's toolbar. - The invite will be added to your Thunderbird calendar.
Changing Thunderbird Settings
Another solution is to change Thunderbird's settings to make Google Meet invites look more like Gmail invites. Here's how to do it:
- Open Thunderbird.
- Go to
Tools > Account Settings. - Select your Google account.
- Go to the
Identity > Additional Identitiestab. - Click on the
Newbutton. - Enter your name and email address as they appear in Gmail.
- Click
OK. - Go to the
