In today's world, our mobile devices are always connected to the internet. Whether we have problems with coverage or not, we carry a constant internet connection that can be very useful for sharing with other devices. Since Android 2.2, most devices allow us to use tethering, which means sharing our data connection so that other devices can connect to the internet.
SHARING YOUR CONNECTION VIA Wi-Fi Sharing your internet connection via Wi-Fi is very easy. To do this, go to the Android settings, head to the Network & Internet section, and then go to Hotspot & tethering. Tap on Wi-Fi hotspot and you will find different options.
Your Android device comes with a standard configuration for this hotspot, which is usually the name of the device and a randomly generated password. You can change the name and password if you want. Once you have everything set up, all you have to do is turn on the hotspot. You only need to do this configuration the first time.
Most modern Android devices include a quick setting for turning the hotspot on and off, which you can find in the quick settings panel. Here are the steps you need to follow to create a Wi-Fi hotspot so that other people can connect to the internet using your phone's data connection:
- Go to Settings

- Enter Hotspot & tethering
- Tap on Wi-Fi hotspot
- Turn on the hotspot
SHARING YOUR CONNECTION VIA BLUETOOTH Sharing your internet connection via Bluetooth is less common these days, but it is still possible. This method has the advantage of not disconnecting the Wi-Fi connection, so you can use it to share the Wi-Fi connection with another device that does not have Wi-Fi, but does have Bluetooth.
The process is essentially the same, but it is much easier because there is no configuration involved. You just need to go to Settings > Network & Internet > Hotspot & tethering, and then activate "Share via Bluetooth." The other device will need to connect to your phone via Bluetooth.
SHARING YOUR CONNECTION VIA USB CABLE The two methods mentioned above are the most popular because they do not require any physical connection beyond activating it on your phone and connecting to it on the other device. However, it is also possible to share your connection via a USB cable.
This method is mainly used to connect a PC that does not have Bluetooth or Wi-Fi, although it can also be used for other devices. The process is similar to the previous methods, but you need to connect your phone to the other device via a USB cable.
To activate this feature, go to Settings > Network & Internet > Hotspot & tethering, and then tap on "USB tethering." Your device should recognize the connection and create a new connection through your phone.
