How to Automate a Word in Figma Letter Component

Are you tired of manually updating the text in your Figma Letter Component every time you need to change a word? Well, good news! You can automate this process to save time and effort. Step 1: Create a New Figma Document

If you don't have Figma installed on your computer, go ahead and download it from the official website. Once installed, open Figma and create a new document by clicking on "New File" or using the shortcut Ctrl + N (Windows) or Cmd + N (Mac).

Step 2: Add a Letter Component

In Figma, a Letter Component allows you to create reusable text elements. To add a Letter Component, select the "Text" tool from the toolbar on the left side of the screen. Click and drag to create a text box on the canvas. Type in the word that you want to automate.

Step 3: Convert the Text to a Variable

Now, we need to convert the text into a variable so that it can be automated. Select the text you want to automate, and in the right panel, under the "Text" section, click on the small dropdown arrow next to "Text" to reveal more options. Check the box that says "Is Variable".

Step 4: Define the Variable

After converting the text to a variable, you need to define the variable itself. Click on the "Prototype" tab in the right panel. Under the "Interactions" section, click on the "Add Interaction" button. Choose the "Set Value" option from the dropdown menu.

Step 5: Set the Variable Value

A new panel will appear on the right side of the screen. In the "Set Value" panel, you can enter the value for your variable. This is the word that will be automated. Type in the desired word and press Enter.

Step 6: Test the Automation

Now it's time to test your automation. Click on the "Play" button in the top right corner of the screen to preview your design. You should see the word you entered in the "Set Value" panel automatically replace the original word in the Letter Component.

Step 7: Update the Automation

If you need to change the automated word in the future, simply go back to the "Set Value" panel, update the value, and press Enter. The change will be reflected in your design instantly.

Step 8: Export and Use

Once you are satisfied with your automated word, you can export your design as an image or share it with others. To export, click on "File" in the top left corner of the screen, then choose "Export" and select your desired format.
